Our new free Earth History Homeschool Curriculum is now available on the homeschool page. This course is 71 lessons, and gives the high school student a half-semester course in the 4.5 billion year history of our planet. I’ll be working on the tests shortly, and will have them available for those who wish to have a testing option, for a small fee.

Racing Plate Tectonics Nonsense

Aug 23

Tags: , , ,

The Institute for Creation Research (ICR) news article for 23 August 2010 highlights a slight difference in plate tectonic movement rates to prove that their catastrophic plate tectonics model is feasible.   Their claims are based on computer modeling, programmed by a YEC theorist, who wrote the programming to prove the Flood!  Naturally, biased programming yields biased results.  In reality, YEC proponents have no hard scientific evidence to back up their claims, whereas science has hard evidence of plate movements to prove the old age of the earth.  Click here for more.

Mega Dinosaur Bonebed

The Institute for Creation Research is making a claim that Noah’s Flood killed the dinosaurs in a massive Canadian dinosaur graveyard.  When you peel back the claims and examine the research from the actual scientists who studied the graveyard, there is no actual proof that it was Noah’s Flood.  Click here for more.

Supervolcanoes as Evidence for a Young Earth?

May 04

Posted: under Creation Blog, Institute for Creation Research.

The Institute for Creation Research has published an article on the 30th anniversary of the Mt Saint Helens eruption, claiming that supervolcanoes provide evidence for a young earth (even though Mt. Saint Helens is not a supervolcano).  The article, written by Steven Austin, is full of claims, but provides no scientific data to back them up.  Click here to read the rebuttal.

Making Fun of Creationists

The Institute for Creation Research has noted that it was the target of a joke aimed at creationists.  Unfortunately, this will continue as long as young earth creationism is part of the church.  For an explanation of why this is true, click here.

World’s Oldest Trees and Creationism

The Institute for Creation Research’s daily article for 12 April claims that the world’s oldest trees support the claim that the earth is young (implying that all trees are younger than the Flood of Noah.  When you consider all the evidence, however, their claim is false.  Click here to read the response to this claim.

Faint Young Sun Paradox Solved!

The faint young sun paradox has long been an argument of young earth creationists.  However, this is no longer the case.  A new study by scientists has provided the answer to this nearly 40 year old problem.  Click here to read about the solution.

Fedex Fossil Claim by ICR

The Institute for Creation Research has published a claim based on a new fossil amphibian.  The fossil is merely a tool used by ICR to rehash some old claims for their young earth theory, claims which have already been disproven.  To read more, click here.

What’s Happening?

Just wanted to drop a quick note and let people know I’m still here.  I probably won’t write any new rebuttals in the coming weeks, as I’m working on two new curriculums for homeschool families.  At this time I can say that one of them is Historical Geology, which examines the history of the earth.  Currently it consists of about 55 lessons, making it suitable for a semester high school science credit.  I will announce the other curriculum at a later date.

Stratigraphy

Although young earth creationists can frequently turn around scientific data to fit their needs, they cannot provide answers to simple questions when it comes to stratigraphy, which is the study of the earth’s rock layers.  The order of the earth’s rocks provide conclusive proof of an old earth, even if all the other data for an old earth is proven false.  To begin reading this five-part series, click here.

Coconino Sandstone

The Coconino Sandstone is a desert sandstone that is prominent in the Grand Canyon.  Young earth creationists commonly attack this sandstone, trying to prove that it was deposited underwater.  In this rebuttal, the claims of one of these attacks are examined.  Click here to read this article.

Morton’s Demon

Jan 23

Many old earth creationists have wondered how young earth creationists can believe in things that are not true.  Glenn Morton has a unique insight into this issue.  A former YEC, who actually authored articles in favor of a young earth, is now a staunch old earth believer.  In this article, he explains how young earth creationists can ignore the facts of science.  Click here for more.

The Desert Problem

Jan 22

Unfortunately for young earth creationism, the existence of a wind-blown desert sandstone right in the middle of supposed Noah’s Flood rock layers is an unsurmountable problem.  In this review, the evidence for a wind-blown desert sandstone is revealed, and it comes from an unusual source…the young earth creationists themselves!  Click here to read this review.

The Floating Forest Theory

Young earth creationists claim that the world’s coal reserves can be explained by great mats of vegetation that floated the worlds oceans, and then sank during Noah’s Flood.  However, there are some major problems with their theory.  Click here to read the rebuttal to this young earth claim.

December Update

Just a quick note to let folks know that all is well.  I have not made any posts in the last few months due to my work schedule and family commitments.  Hopefully life will calm down after the holidays.  As many of you know, I work full time as a mailman, and this time of the year is quite busy for me.

The next project I am working on is an add-on to the online geology curriculum for homeschoolers.  This one is titled Earth History.  It will explore the geologic history of the earth over a 12-week course.  Plans are also in the works for a Biblical Archaeology curriculum.

God Bless and Merry Christmas,

Greg

Pterosaur Landing Trackway, Part 2

Old Earth Creationism on Trial – Review Completed

The final installment of the review of the young earth book “Old Earth Creationism on Trial” has now been posted.  This final section reviews the appendixes in the book.  Many thanks to Ruben Baron for his hard work in creating this thorough review.  His review shows how shallow the arguments in the book are, and reveals the depths that some young earth creationists will sink to in order to defend their unscientific beliefs.

Pterosaur Landing Trackway

A new study shows how pterosaurs landed, and the Institute for Creation Research tries to use this to show how evolution could not account for the development of the landing technique of these animals. The explanation fails to explain why there is a landing trackway in sediments deposited by Noah’s Flood.  Click here to read the article.
