Ancient Sea Level

Brian Thomas of the Institute for Creation Research thinks that recent evidence for a higher sea level in earth’s past supports the idea of a global flood.  He seems surprised that we now have solid proof of higher sea levels in the past, yet geologists have known this for many years.  Click here to read the rebuttal to this poorly researched article.

Snakes and the Curse

Today’s Answers in Genesis daily article by Gary Vaterlaus is about the apparent contradiction in the BIble concerning snakes eating dust.  While I agree with AiG’s answer to this issue, there are other points made in the article which are questionable.  To read the Answers In Creation rebuttal to this article, click here.

How Old is the Earth?

In a daily article from Answers in Genesis, Bodie Hodge asks the question of the age of the earth.  This article attempts to present evidence from the genealogies in the the Bible, and then it attempts to tear down old earth dating methods.  It is not effective in either.  Click here to read the rebuttal.

Algae may seem like a simple little plant, but God used it for a grand purpose.  Without algae, we would not be able to breath.  For more on this response to an Institute for Creation Research article, click here.

Fossil Fibers & Dinosaurs

Brian Thomas of the Institute for Creation Research claims that feather-like fibers found on a non-therapod dinosaur damages the evolutionary claim that birds evolve from dinosaurs.  Not true at all, when you think about it.  Click here for the review.

Fossil Octopi No Problem for an Old Earth

Apr 02

The claim that soft tissue could not be preserved with slow and gradual sedimentation has been an argument used often by young earth creationists.  It resurfaced again yesterday in the daily news feature about fossil octopi, at the Institute for Creation Research.  Click here to see the rebuttal.

Beneath the Cross

What is beneath the cross?  Andrew Snelling of Answers in Genesis answers this correctly, in that there are layers of sedimentary rock containing many fossils.  Whereas he sees this as proof of a global flood, the scientific evidence says otherwise.  Click here to read this article.

30 Year Secret?

One of the claims by Creation Science Evangelism is that a fossil mammoth site in Waco, Texas provides proof of a global flood.  When you examine the issue, it is clear that it could not have been caused by a worldwide flood as they presume.  To read the article, click here.

“Chickenosaurus”

As is typical of Creation Science Evangelism, they use humor, instead of science, to mislead their readers.  When they do use science, they use it incorrectly, or omit vital facts that would discredit their beliefs.  The article “Chickenosaurus” from their website is an excellent example of how they mislead their readers.  To read the rebuttal for this dinosaur article, click here.

Arctic Fossil Turtle

Does a fossil of a normally tropical turtle, found in the Arctic, damage the case for an old earth?  YEC author Brian Thomas of the Institute for Creation Research thinks so.  However, when you consider all the evidence, and not just half of it, there is no problem at all for old earth believers.  Click here to read this rebuttal.

Transcontinental Rock Layers

The third rebuttal in the series of Answers Magazine’s six-part flood evidences deals with rock layers that stretch across continents.  No new information is presented, as this is merely a rehash of old YEC claims.  The rebuttal can be read here.

Fossil Graveyards

Answers Magazine’s second in a series of Flood evidences concerns fossil graveyards.  This rebuttal examines the validity of this claim by young earth author Andrew Snelling, and shows that omission of key information indicates the deceptive tactics that the author used in order to make his point.  The rebuttal to “The World’s a Graveyard” can be read here.

High & Dry Sea Creatures

The latest rebuttal is for an Answers Magazine article from the January-March 2008 issue.  The title of the article was High & Dry Sea Creatures, and it was the first of a six part series of flood evidences.  The rebuttal can be found here.  The article claims that finding fossils high on mountaintops is proof of a global worldwide flood.  However, there is no scientific proof that the claims by the young earth author, Andrew Snelling, are true.

My Dad

Dec 15

Posted: under Non-Creation Blogs.

As many of you know, my dad came to live with my family in September of 2007.  He had late stage Alzheimers, and eventually we were unable to care for him, and he moved into a nursing home.  He passed away in his sleep on 4 December 2008.  Fortunately, he knew the Lord, and I will see him again.

This past year has been tough on my family, and it has also taken a toll on the website ministry.  I hope to eventually increase my time working on the website.  Thank you all for your prayers over the last year.

CMI-Worldwide, The Untold Story

Dec 15

As many of you know, Answers in Genesis split two years ago, with the US ministry under Ken Ham essentially casting off the parts of the ministry that stood in his way (he did not want oversight from anyone).  CMI recently posted an article about their new operating practices which is a clear attempt at preventing any such split in the future.  I’ve posted a commentary on this split here.

Dinosaur Killer (Extinction)

Oct 28

Posted: under Answers in Genesis, Creation Blog, Dinosaurs.
Tags: , , ,

Answers Magazine published an article by YEC Paul Taylor which tries to discredit the theory that the dinosaur extinction was caused by a meteorite impact.  The article contains three problems with the theory, all of which fail to provide any proof against the impact theory.  To the contrary, when you do the math, a meteorite impact makes much more sense than his theory that the iridium in the K-T Boundary came from volcanoes.  You can read my rebuttal here.

Precambrian Fossil Footprints

Oct 23

Posted: under Creation Blog, Institute for Creation Research.

I’ve just posted a response to an ICR argument concerning Precambrian fossil footprints, which ICR uses to discredit evolution.  When treated fairly and without emotion (which so many young earth arguments use), it does not discredit evolution at all…it merely makes it clearer.  For progressive creationists, there is no issue either, as it only means an adjustment in the timeline of the creation of the organisms that made the prints.
